Hi, I am Jenny Harknett -  a BACP Registered and Accredited Counsellor in Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes.

Thank you for visiting my website.  The fact that you are having a look must mean that you are interested in me as a counsellor and that you may want to learn more about me.  I have asked myself and my friends what we would want to know before contacting a counsellor; the answers have been pretty unanimous and can be summed up as follows: 

• EXPERIENCED AND SKILLED

• WARM AND FRIENDLY

• A 'NORMAL', 'REAL' PERSON

I have been a very busy counsellor since I qualified in 2010 so I have plenty of experience, with over 3000 client hours notched up since gaining my diploma.

As for being 'normal' and 'real', I think that my friends mean they would want to meet an authentic, open person; someone who has lived a 'normal' life before becoming a counsellor. I came to counselling in my late thirties.  I have worked regular jobs and done regular things ... 

BUT, I genuinely don't believe in the 'normal' life: 

We are all unique individuals with unique lives, experiences and perspectives.

• This is a guiding principle in my work and is why I tailor my counselling to suit the client.  

I will listen attentively and whole-heartedly, without judgement, to you; in order to gain the best possible understanding of your experience.  I will then work with you towards whatever is your goal, with your best interests guiding the work.

I currently work with the Victims First Specialist Counselling Service to provide therapeutic interventions to victims of crime across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
